Lumpy Loads of Laundry

Hygiene is a matter of dignity. Established on February 9, 2019, Lumpy Loads of Laundry is a dedicated branch of Luke 3:11 Ministries focused on providing clean clothes and hygiene support to our neighbors in Marion at absolutely no cost.

We believe that access to clean laundry shouldn’t be a luxury. Through three unique community projects, our volunteers work together to take the burden out of laundry day for families and individuals in need.

Our Three Laundry Projects

1. Free Laundry Detergent Distribution

Buying laundry soap can be a major financial strain for families on a tight budget. To help relieve this burden, we collect empty plastic laundry detergent jugs from the community, clean them, and refill them with homemade liquid detergent. We partner with local food pantries to distribute these refilled jugs completely free of charge.

2. Mobile Laundry Service

For homebound neighbors living with disabilities, the physical act of doing laundry or getting to a laundromat can be an overwhelming obstacle. Our dedicated volunteers pick up dirty laundry directly from eligible disabled patrons, wash it, and return it freshly laundered completely free of charge.

3. Free Laundromat Nights

Periodically, we host community events at local laundromats. We cover the costs to pay for and facilitate free laundry cycles for residents, providing the quarters and homemade detergent.

We are always accepting donations to keep this program running! You can drop off:

• Empty, rinsed-out plastic laundry detergent jugs (with their caps!).
• Financial contributions to fund quarters for our community Laundromat Nights.

 Laundry Jug Recycling

• Bring empty liquid laundry detergent jugs to the 503 Ballentine porch station
• Jugs are cleaned and refilled for distribution through our partner food and clothing banks, and local shelters.
• Great for eco-conscious supporters and families

 Participate Through Donations of Funds or Supplies

• Organize a peanut butter and jelly collection in your school, workplace, or neighborhood
